Scenario: Health and Wellness

scenarios

Mark is a developer for a company that implements telemedicine services, which now wants to develop its own application, as it has always been using third party software. Mark has been assigned to design and develop an application that takes vital signals from commercial wireless sensors (weight scale and blood pressure cuff), stores the values locally and sends them to a remote server. The software is aimed at running in a constrained environment with a set top box embedded computer with Bluetooth and GPRS internet connectivity.
For help, Mark enters the AAL Depot, which can offer him useful instruments and downloadable tools for free. One of these tools offers guidance for choosing the best libraries and programming environment for the application. Mark selects the running environment, the type of application, and the connectivity after which the tool then provides the best fitting environment and furthermore suggests some additional implementations like known sensor protocols, backend communication protocols and also prompts some useful models.
Now, Mark needs to complete the models and pass from model to code. Another tool from AAL can help him translate the model into some other formalism (e.g. from UML to Java classes). The main tool also suggests a programming environment and the best configuration for it, in which the environment support him in all the required tests.
Mark’s job has now been done almost for free with the downloadable tools, and Mark’s company will now be able to improve their services very quickly and with little effort.

Scenario: Mobility

developer

Angie is an engineering student that has to present her project at the exam. She is interested in accessibility and design. One day, in the UniversALL community, she finds Sofia’s request for s local tool that shows public transportation and she decided to make this tool accessible.
She checks what software is already available in the uStore and also downloads some of the free tools offered at the UniversALL Depot - such as the transport government tool.
She integrates the transport government tool with a PDA and after several weeks, the accessible version of the public transportation tool from the PDA is available and she can now upload it to uStore for free distribution.
